  "Latest News "

Baringa is a small stud situated in the Inlet Valley of Attunga NSW, 21km's north of Tamworth (Country Music Capital).

Originally established as an Australian Pony Stud in the early 1950's by my grandparents Nancy & Max Kentwell, Baringa was home to the legendary Australian Pony Stallion "Lowlyn Silver Chief ". Nancy & Max had a great passion for the Australian Pony and enjoyed wonderful success in the show ring, as well as with the stud and their immortal sire "Chief".
After the retirement of Nancy & Max "Baringa" was handed over to my mother Claire to continue on with, along with her and my father's stud which was Wilgaroo Pony Stud. Although showing was quite limited due to other commitments both studs have had much success.
After the passing of Nancy & Max it was decide that the two studs be merged and in 1999 it was decided that the  'Baringa' prefix be retained.

With my love for the beautiful  Riding Ponies and  being more involved with the stud over recent years it was decided that the stud take a new direction in its breeding program, to breed and produce quality Riding Ponies.

Our aim is to breed quality Riding Ponies and Galloways with correct conformation, movement and temperament capable of winning at top level under saddle as well as in hand.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website.

Welcome

"Show news"

"Baringa Hallmark" (aka, Marcus) was the only one in our show team this season, and with only a few shows attended he certainly did not disappoint. From across all of his breed classes he bought home multiple Championships as well as a Supreme Led Of Show, Supreme Part Welsh and Supreme Buckskin. With his showing exposure only being very limited to date he certainly has made his presence felt and made a name for himself. We are very proud to have bred such a beautiful pony and look forward to his future in the show ring as well as a sire.
We have four mares due to foal to "Marcus" this season, all of which will be offered for sale. Expressions of interest are invited for these foals, see mares page for details.

Horses on the move - Firstly our beautiful "Toytown" gelding "Baringa First Class" (aka Buddy) has been purchased by Eva Wright and he now joins his full brother "Baringa Great Expectations (aka Bobby). We could not have wished for a better home for this gorgeous pony, he has settled in to his new home very well and is thriving under the guidence of Eva and her niece Brianna .
We wish them all the very best for the future and I'm sure it will be very bright with "Buddy" coming along very well with his training.
My much loved, and very sentimental "Tash" (Baringa Tasha) has been leased to Sue Reardon for her grandaughter Harmony Irwin. "Tash" and Harmony are developing a great partnership and are having a lot of fun together from all reports. We thank Sue and Harmony for giving Tash such a wonderful, loving home and an opportunity to have a second lease on life!!!!!!!!
"Langtree Dancing Waters" (Dance) has been sold to Matt Wills of Gembrook Park. Dance joins a small band of mares that Matt has selected for his newly established stud. We're sure that Dance will produce some lovely stock for Matts new stud.

On a sad note earlier this year we lost our lovely "Toytown" filly "Baringa High Society" in a freak paddock accident. We had very high hopes and big plans for this stunning filly, but it was not meant to be. This loss was devestating especially  after loosing our newly born Myscal Encore filly in October last year. Hopefully our run of bad luck is now over.
